In this lovely cabin you live less than a stone's throw from the lake. Enjoy the peace and the great view from the kitchen table while you wait for the cooking coffee to be ready on the wood stove. The Bomvaktarstugan has been modernized with electricity, but you get the water, just like in the old days, from the lake.
The cabin has a fridge and hotplates. Sink is on the outside. It has three beds, a wood stove and a nice outhouse (toilet). WC and shower are within walking distance.
It is also within walking distance to a grocery store, playground, barbecue areas, etc.

THE HISTORY OF THE CABIN
Bomvaktarstugan was built during the timber rafting era (40s). The timber was rafted down the Sax- and Sjout rivers to Tåsjön. At the upper end of the lake, all the timber was stopped by a large boom, a bunch of logs linked together. The timber was then transported in a groove by the tug boat down the lake. While waiting for enough timber to be gathered, raftsmen and crew waited in the "boom watching cabin" Bomvaktarstugan.

Toilets and showers are available at Norråkers Camping within walking distance and cost SEK 20 per visit.
The easiest way to get here is with your own car. The options are; fly to Östersund or Vilhelmina, train to Östersund and rent a car or bus the last bit or the train (Inlandsbanan) to Hoting. We can also help you with the transport, let us know if you have some questions. Google maps.

Hiking
Hike along the Sjoutån to the timber rafting hut and take a dip in the river by the warm rocks. There are many hikes of various kinds that you can easily find yourself. If you want a guide with you, ask us. We are happy to guide when we have the opportunity.
FISHING
In Tåsjön there are perch, trout, pike, grayling and whitefish. You can fish from our docks or from a boat. Fishing licenses are easily purchased at ifiske.se
HÄLLINGSÅFALLET
80 kilometers away you will find Hällingsåfallet, which is one of the country's highest waterfalls and Northern Europes longest canyon. The fall cascades down a ravine over 40 meters deep and then pushes out into a narrow canyon.
GAME SCOUTING
Summer evenings are perfect for going for a ride and scouting for wildlife. Along this road we usually see capercaillies, grouse, foxes and sometimes moose. If you're really lucky, you might see a bear...
